Microsoft have just launched a plugin for
Outlook providing the capability to view maps DIRECTLY from
within Outlook.
I have installed the plugin - and it’s a clear example of how
Microsoft’s is going to be able to leverage their suite of Live
services.
The download was about 2.9 MB’s and was extremely easy to install,
although make sure you actually have Outlook closed first!
This plugin will run on either Windows XP, or Windows 2000 and
Outlook 2002 or Outlook 2003.
There are no options to set, or configuration changes to make...
How Do I Use It?
When I opened a new event in my Outlook Calendar, a new tab was
present - "Location". (Without the plugin, only the Appointment and
Scheduling tabs would be present.)
Clicking on the Location tab displays an imbedded map powered by
Windows Live Local. A map of the events location should be displayed
automatically based on the location entered for the event, as in the
image below...
Outlook map plugin
Besides displaying a map, it also offers other
features found on Windows Local Live including the ability to get
directions, switch between a road or aerial view. It also offers one
other option, that ties in nicely with Outlook: allows you to add
travel time, based on estimated data from Windows Live Local, to
your appointment in Outlook.
The DVD XPack instantly adds DVD playback to
Windows Media Player 9 & 10. It Installs the
same theatre-quality video and audio decoders
proven by over 45 million users of WinDVD -
the world's leading software DVD player.
Why Use It? BECAUSE:
It's FAST, cheap, no-fuss use and Microsoft approved!
