Network DDE
# Service Name:
NetDDE
# Service Description:
Provides network transport and security for Dynamic Data
Exchange (DDE) for programs running on the same computer or on
different computers. If this service is stopped, DDE transport and
security will be unavailable. If this service is disabled, any
services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
# Default Settings:
Default setting in Windows XP Professional: Disabled
Default setting in Windows XP Home: Disabled
# This Windows service logs on as:
Local System
# The default path for this Windows service is:
%systemroot%\system32\netdde.exe
# This Windows service depends on the following system components:
Network DDE DSDM
# The following services have a dependency on this service:
None
Marc Says:
This Windows service only seems to be used by Windows chat (
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308232 ) and ClipBook. On
installing Windows XP Service Pack 2, this service is set from
Manual to Disabled by default. The Network DDE service manages
trusted shares on the network.
