How To Create A Microsoft Outlook
Backup!
|
|
|
If you are using Microsoft
Outlook for your email and even contact management etc...
Are you making backups?
If not and your Microsoft
Outlook database becomes corrupted or even your computer hard drive
fails.....
HOW will you recover your
emails etc?
|
Manual Backups?
Microsoft Outlook stores its data into a file
called a .PST file.
If you search your computer you can manually
backup this file - this is a cheap solution BUT not the best!
Microsoft Outlook
Backup Software?
I personally use a software program called
BackRex For Outlook.

Not only does it backup Outlook and ALL the
settings, it can also backup my Internet Explorer favourites folder
and I can even compress the backup file into a self-extracting file,
complete with password protection. (Even has a command line tool and
schedule option)

HiddenSave 1.0 For
Outlook
I came across this free
utility a while ago and it may be of interest to you...
Called "HiddenSave for
Outlook" it automatically saves a copy of each outgoing email as
a separate .msg file on your hard drive.

Now this is no robust backup solution but I can
see some website visitors finding it useful so I put it here for
them:
http://www.wiredbox.net/Downloads.aspx
It does have a "Nag Screen" and if you want to
remove it you can register the product for $3.50 USD
Handy Backup 4.0
I just wanted to mention this
software. Handy Backup 4.0 not only is a powerful backup
software solution for Windows XP (and I recommend it...) BUT it also
has a "Plugin" for Microsoft Outlook / Microsoft Outlook Express
(and the XP Registry too.)

You can purchase a copy here:

Make A Disk Image?
Not strictly for backing up
Microsoft Outlook but I did want to mention this software as it is
one of the most time saving pieces software I have ever purchased -
called Acronis True Image it has been a valuable friend on many
occasions!

With it I am able to:
Create an exact image of my entire hard disk!!!
Restore the entire disk contents including Windows XP and data — no
having to reinstall all those programs again...
Backup and restore individual files and folders
Clone my hard drive to a new one as a backup disk - handy for
business users
You can download a trial copy here:
