Messenger Service
# Service Name:
Messenger
# Service Description:
Transmits net send and Alerter service messages between clients
and servers. This service is not related to Windows Messenger. If
this service is stopped, Alerter messages will not be transmitted.
If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on
it will fail to start.
# Default Settings:
Default setting in Windows XP Professional: Disabled
Default setting in Windows XP Home: Disabled
# This Windows service logs on as:
Local System
# The default path for this Windows service is:
%systemroot%\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
# This Windows service depends on the following system components:
NetBIOS Interface
Plug and Play
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Workstation
# The following services have a dependency on this service:
None.

This service is set to Disabled by default since Windows XP Service
Pack 2, this is best left in this state to prevent messenger service
spam!
