How Can I Obtain the Security Patch Detailed in KB927198 ?

The version of Microsoft Excel you are running on your computer will determine which particular update you require...

If you have Windows XP Automatic Updates (AU) enabled (more here) then the relevant update should already have been installed.

You can check if it is installed by going to the Start Menu >> Control Panel >> Add Remove Programs >> Under "Change or Remove programs" make sure the "updates" box is ticked.

...now look for Microsoft Office in the list and underneath should be the list of security updates, you should have one of these, if you have a version of Excel installed:

Security Update for Excel 2003 (KB925257) - Excel 2003 with SP2

Security Update for Excel 2003 (KB925255) - Excel 2003 viewer

Security Update for Excel 2002 (KB925523) - Excel 2002/XP with SP3

Security Update for Excel 2000 (KB925524) - Excel 2000 with SP3

If you have Microsoft Works Suite installed then it may say:

Security Update for Excel 2002 (KB925523) - Works Suite 2005

Security Update for Excel 2002 (KB925523) - Works Suite 2004

...Not There?

Then visit the office online update service and download the patch HERE

Or you visit TechNet article and use the appropriate download link to the the correct update HERE
