Microsoft has published a new security bulletin (KB826939), on the 15th October 2003.

An update rollup is a cumulative set of hotfixes, security patches, critical updates, and updates that are packaged together for easy deployment. Update Rollup 1 for Windows XP is a single package that includes many previously released critical updates for Windows XP.

Please Note:

 When you install this KB826939 update rollup, any existing entries in the Add or Remove Programs tool are removed for the critical updates that are included in this update rollup. Therefore, some tools may report that some of the included critical updates are not installed. For example, Marimba Software Change-Management solutions use the registry entries for the Add or Remove Programs tool that are associated with each critical update to confirm that the update is installed. Therefore, Marimba Software Change-Management solutions will incorrectly report that you are missing the individual critical updates that are included in this update rollup.

You must restart your computer after you apply this update rollup...

Conclusion:

As ever I would  urge ALL of you to download and apply the latest patch's, to keep your anti-virus software up to date and use a firewall to protect against unwanted intrusions!

By applying this kb826939 patch you will make sure you have all 22 XP updates installed on your PC!
