When Halo was released by Microsoft back in 2001 no one would have dreamed that it would become such a hit, nor could its impact on culture be predicted. In fact, Halo has been one of the biggest successes of the XBOX platform to date.

Halo 3 is the much anticipated conclusion that sees Master Chief return to the planet Earth to take care of some unfinished business. The Earth’s covenant occupation discovers an ancient item beneath the sands of Africa. The secrets of this huge ancient item have yet to be revealed.

Cortana, the Master Chief’s companion remains trapped by GraveMind, the highly intelligent and extremely aware form of the Flood, while a civil war rages within in the Covenant.

HALO 3 is definitely going to change the way we think of gaming, just like it’s predecessor HALO 2 did.

Expect to see the same first person shooting action with a variety of weapons. You can play co-op with four players and there are two brand new characters appearing in HALO 3. There are some newer vehicles too – the ATV, the mighty Brute Chopper, and the human Mongoose.

You can play 2 to 16 players with Xbox live. If you play in campaign mode, there are nine missions. Enjoy the new weapons with all that new firepower from the Spartan Laser as well as old favourites that have had a facelift.

There are improved graphics thanks to an improved graphics engine by Bungee Studios, and the XBOX 360. In fact, many would agree the graphics are incredible. The new "draw distances" for instance will now allow for a 10 mile view and graphics that are very realistic.

And to go with those improved graphics comes increased sound. Now you get 5.1 Dolby surround sound for a more cinematic playing experience. Imagine how real the gunfire is going to sound...

From beginning to end – from HALO to HALO 3, a story as been spun which incorporates humanity battling against the aliens who have invaded and HALO 3 brings you the final story of the trilogy.

Is it all of what the hype claimed it would be? That’s for you to decide. And the only way to do that is to play HALO 3 for yourself. One thing is for certain, the HALO Trilogy has certainly experienced more success than virtually any other XBOX/Playstation game available...
