You are about to take your PC in for repair - at the local computer store. You have heard of high profile cases where "prying eyes" have found "images" on PC's taken in for repair. Now you know you or your family have not been visiting "adult"  websites. But, you just do NOT like the idea of someone else looking all over your PC. So what can you do? There are some folks against this kind of software because it is VERY good at protecting YOUR privacy.

So I decided to evaluate the claims and counterclaims for myself.

As an IT professional, I was very interested to see if Evidence Eliminator - REALLY is as good as is claimed by its creator!

On The 7th January 2008 - This Is What I Discovered...

I installed the current version of Evidence Eliminator 6.0 onto a Windows XP Professional (SP2).

Both installations went without a hitch. I then reviewed the default settings and then ran the program on each PC.

The whole process took about 25 min on each PC and the ability to create a log file for later viewing was given. I was impressed with the thorough nature of the scan and the removal of so many "files" and "my personal history"...

One of the claims of those who are opposed to this software is that it puts "Spy ware" onto your PC. To check this out I ran an up to date version of "Spybot Search and Destroy 3.0" on each PC and found nothing.

Another claim is that it is only used by those who use adult websites and want to hide their actions. Well there will be those who do use this software for this very reason. But I do not use adult or gambling websites and I still value this software!

It is claimed that this software is unstable and can cause you problems with your operating system. All I can say here is that both PC's I tested this software on are working 100%. In fact BECAUSE they have now been cleared of so much "clutter", particularity in the registry. They both perform faster on start up and shut down!!!

It is also claimed that this software does NOT make the data it removes totally inaccessible. To test this one I used some special software for recovering data from hard drives that have been re-formatted. I could NOT undo the work of Evidence Eliminator.

Overall, I was very impressed and decided that this is indeed excellent software at what it does.

Now there are some cheap imitations, made by other companies, but Evidence Eliminator was the first of it's kind and is still the most comprehensive available in my technical opinion!

• It has the most comprehensive functionality of any software of its kind.
• Fully Windows XP, Windows Vista and NTFS compatible
• Deletion Overwrite –This privacy software allows you to overwrite deleted files with random characters up to the NSA file erasure recommendation of 7 times!

The "Cons" to this software are:

• Some people may think you have something to hide!
• It does not come FREE...
• The companies website could do with a re-design..

I do highly commend this software to you.
