Disable Messenger Spam

There has been an upsurge in some Messenger (that is .NET Messenger...) Spam recently. This article has been written to to show you how to Disable Messenger Spam!

The issue is that currently ANYONE can actually send you a message through the .NET Messenger network without being on YOUR contact list!

Here is an example of a message I received whilst online in MSN Messenger 5.0 recently:

You could for example right-click your Messenger icon, choose "Send an Instant Message", then click the Other tab. Here you just type in a Passport e-mail address and send a message to them, without being on their contact list!

However, you can change this behaviour, so that people will have to add your to their contact lists before they can send you a message (which will have the effect of blocking these Spam messages in the future).

To Disable Messenger Spam - simply:

Open up the main Messenger window, click Tools, then Options, then the Privacy tab, click All users and then click the Block >> button.

This way YOU can manually add who you want to receive messages from and block all others - Disable Messenger Spam TODAY!

I hope this article was useful.
