Marc Says:
This Windows service was added to Windows XP in Service Pack 2 and
is an ESSENTIAL service that should never be disabled. It plays a
very important role on the system, and will start other "manual"
services when necessary.
This service cannot be stopped by services.msc. The default action
for this service failure is to restart the computer.
The Windows Firewall service in Windows XP Service Pack 2 cannot
start if the DCOM Process Launcher Service is disabled!
If a program will not install and reports the error: "RPC server is
unavailable" it may be that this service is not running.
