What is codec
IV50..?
|
|
|
This is quite a
commonly required codec that enables you to view video on your PC.
Intel Corporation
developed the original INDEO (INtel viDEO)
compression technology
to which codec iv50 belongs.
However, they sold
this to a company called Ligos in 2001. |
Many games, for
instance, still require this codec and Ligos Technology now make a
charge for it!
Can I get codec IV50
for FREE?
YES you can!
Ligos Technology still honour previous
licensing arrangements of the technology so all you
have to do is find a company who will let you download under one of
these previous
licenses!
Actually I have done that for you so just
point your browser at:
codec iv50
(The codec actually comes bundled with a
few others, but that is OK. Just
download the file and run it.)
Sometimes this link is down! If so try
this one:

NB
- If you have a version of Windows XP that shipped before service
pack 1 was added. Then you should have codec iv50 on your machine.
When Microsoft shipped Windows XP with SP1 included the codec iv50
was removed!
If you fancy paying $15.00 for the latest
version of the codec for Windows XP then you can get it
here: codec iv50
Please note - you install
these codec's at your own risk. I offer no warranty or support!
