CES 2008

CES 2008

What Is It and How Does It Concern Me?

Good question...

CES stands for the Consumer Electronics Show and this year around 140,000 "techies" will attend the largest trade show of its kind.

It is hosted in Las Vegas and this year starts on Monday 7th January, finishing on Thursday 10th.

...So why should you care?

Well EVERY electronics company "of note" will be there exhibiting their new products for 2008 and just about every major print & online journalist will be covering the breaking news - many companies like Microsoft and Sony etc, use this annual show to announce the launch of new products.

But probably more important, for you the home consumer, is that just about every major electronic retail outlet will have their "buyers" there looking for this years must have gadgets to stock their shelves with.

For instance BenQ will debut their new Mobile Internet Device (or MID) and Sennheiser plans to unveil a set of wireless earbuds for use with ANY gadget - other stories here.

...then there is the rumour of the worlds first 150 inch flat screen TV being on display!

This trade show is a real biggie!

Award winning actors, musicians, comedians and sports stars all come together at CES to lend a hand promoting the hottest products and technologies in the consumer electronics industry (more here).

This year CES have announced that Yoko Ono and Sony recording artists Natasha Bedingfield, will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas and Pat Monahan of Train will be there.

So will Indy car driver and 2005 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year, Danica Patrick, along with wrestlings very own Candice Michelle.

Academy Award winning actor and producer Michael Douglas is making an appearance and so too is David Ortiz (Boston Red Sox).

At the tuesday night Monster Cable concert Mary J. Blige is performing and even Kevin Costner and his band will be entertaining the crowds at CES 2008!

NBC Universal at CES 2008

NBC UniversalNBC Universal has what they are calling the "first-ever "pure content company to present at CES."

They are also the official broadcast partner, with two full studios where they will be broadcasting live throughout the event as the "official broadcast partner" for CES.
