If you check the Windows Update settings (via the Control Panel) you will see that the default time of 3AM is set. Are you on your PC at 3AM in the morning? So I recommend you change that time to when the PC is "normally" on. Mine is set to 4PM.

In Windows Vista the display name for this service is called “Windows Update” and not Automatic Updates.
