goes by I realize
that I have yet to send out any newsletter for this month!
So here is a shorter than usual email from me :-(
===========================================================
1) KEEP YOUR FOLDERS OPEN FROM THE LAST SESSION.
2) MICROSOFT MAX.
3) MICROSOFT RESEARCH - GROUP SHOT.
4) WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 SUPPORT TOOLS.
5) MICROSOFT LEGAL EAGLE INTERVIEW (VIDEO).

===========================================================
1) KEEP YOUR FOLDERS OPEN FROM THE LAST SESSION.
-----------------------------------------------------------
By default, when you log off Windows XP, the folders that
you had open are closed and they don't reopen when
you log back on.
But did you know you can change this behaviour?
Read about it here:
http://www.updatexp.com/keep-folders.html
-----------------------------------------------------------
2) MICROSOFT MAX.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Marketing says: "Microsoft® Max is built on the next-generation
WinFX Runtime Components technology that will drive the
development of Windows Vista® applications."
Now, what is Max, exactly?
Microsoft Max is the codename for a technology in development
by Microsoft. A beta version of Max which can be downloaded
from the Microsoft website, is currently an application for
creating virtual photo albums and distributing them online
in a peer-to-peer fashion.
It has been said by Microsoft that Max runs on the WinFX
Runtime Components used on the yet-to-be-released Windows
Vista (formerly codenamed Longhorn), or on the English
version of Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Features of the Max technology demo include the ability
to annotate photos and arrange them in custom layouts
and slideshows. There is also a 3D Mantle View feature.
The longer-term goal of Max is to facilitate peer-to-peer
communications of many kinds of files, not just photos.
No decisions have been made as to how the Max technology
will be brought to market as actual products.
NB - This is NOT for the novice! But if you want to look
at what technology could be coming to you soon from
Microsoft, then MAX is going to be a very interesting
peek :-)
There is a video of an Interview with the guys who created
the technology:

You can find the software download here:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
3) MICROSOFT RESEARCH - GROUP SHOT.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Research just released an image composition program
to allow you to select the best parts of similar photos and
create your own work of art!
I really like it :-)
You can see for yourself here:
http://www.updatexp.com/group-shot.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 SUPPORT TOOLS.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you support Windows XP computers?
Are you an experienced Windows XP user?
Did you know there are a bunch of free tools to make your
life easier?
Find out more here:
http://www.updatexp.com/windows-xp-tools.html
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) MICROSOFT LEGAL EAGLE INTERVIEW (VIDEO).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mary Snapp has been at Microsoft for 17 years. She is both
a Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, running a
group of lawyers and paralegals that support all things
legal related to Windows and its set of platforms.
Find out about the interplay between Law and Product
development and why she's stayed at MS for so long.
I guess it's an understatement to say that Microsoft
lawyers are a busy group of folks!
You can watch the video here:
http://channel9.msdn.com/Showpost.aspx?postid=142145
---------------------------------------------------
6) FREE DOWNLOAD
MANAGER.
---------------------------------------------------
Using the power of this free download manager and accelerator
you can retrieve files and complete websites up to 600%
faster
than before.
It utilizes the entire bandwidth of your internet connection
even if you download from slow web sites.
Features of the download manager include:
Stop and Resume file downloads at will...
Never have a file download fail on you...
Multiple connections that allow the best download possible...
Built in audio and video file preview screen...
ZIP file preview before downloading...
...and SO much more :-)
I was so impressed with the software so I had them build me
a custom copy!
...and you can grab *your* copy here:
http://www.updatexp.com/free-download-manager.html
NB - If there is enough demand I will create some training
videos on how to use it!
-----------------------------------------------------------
7) THE DESTRUCTIVE NYXEM WORM.
-----------------------------------------------------------
...if you were NOT already aware of this nasty "Worm"
spreading via email then you need to read this warning:
