This is a fairly
un-common Windows Update error and hopefully this article will help
you resolve the problems you are having.
The 0x8ddd0010 error
code
typically occurs because of a pop-up error.

What causes Error 0x8ddd0010
When you click a link on the Windows Update site,
Windows XP SP2 issues 'HTTP Error 500 - Internal Server Error, Error
0x8ddd0010', or a blank page is displayed?
When you View installation history, or the Details link for an
update, a blank page is displayed and a pop-up blocked indicator is
displayed.
When you click a link on the Windows Update page, you receive:
HTTP Error 500 - Internal Server Error, Error 0x8ddd0010
These behaviours are caused by the pop-up blocker in SP2, or a 3rd
party pop-up blocker. Configure the Windows XP SP2 pop-up blocker:
1. Start
Internet Explorer.
2. Use the Tools menu to press Pop-up Blocker
and Pop-up Blocker Settings.
3. Type http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com into the
Address of Web site to allow box and press Add.
4. Press Close.
