Why do I Get Windows 0x800ccc0e Error Message?
Sounds like you are having problems sending and receiving emails on your
computer using Outlook, Outlook Express or even Windows Mail in
Vista.
Your error message may look something like this one:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: '<account
name>', Server: '<SMTP server name>', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure (SSL):
No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Here is the Usual Reason for the
Error 0x800ccc0e
The most common reason for this error happening is due to an SMTP
connection error. In plain english this means that your computer is
trying to send and email but the remote email server that it is
connecting too is refusing to accept it.
For example:
If you are connected to the Internet through ATT, and you attempt to
send messages by using an account other than your ATT e-mail
account, you may receive the 0x800ccc0e error message.
This behaviour can occur because ATT does not allow email messages
to be sent to another Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) email
server while you are connected to their network.
The Resolution?
You will need to check that your email account settings are correct and that PORT 25 is the port used under the SMTP area - unless specifically told to use another one by you ISP.
You may need to check your ISP's help pages to obtain the POP3 and SMTP email settings.
Please Note:
You can also receive this error message when you have antivirus e-mail protection or personal firewall software enabled on your computer.
Try turning it off for a moment and attempt to send the email again. If it works then the security software is the culprit and you will need to contact your ISP for instructions.
I hope this information helps your troubleshooting!
